A leaked report from the Committee Chairman of The U.S. National Council on Radiation Protection stresses that contrary to government reports, electric power sources like electric appliances, computers and cars can cause fatal disease (Oct. 5, 1995– New Scientist). “The sensitivity of the brain and its mechanisms to these fields is the key to understanding this issue,” said Committee Chairman, Ross Adey.

Adey, a neurologist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Loma Linda, said there is a ‘powerful body of impressive evidence that even very low exposure to electromagnetic radiation has long-term effects on health.’

The report cited studies that show electromagnetic fields can disturb the production of the hormone melatonin, which is linked with sleep patterns and also assists degenerative changes inside the body seen in heart disease, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

It said there was strong evidence that children exposed to such power fields could have a higher risk of leukemia.

The report shows a statistical correspondence between the extended use of computer monitors during the first trimester of pregnancy and miscarriages.
