The Thyroid vs. Adrenals Diagnosis

Most thyroid conditions are diagnosed from hormone blood tests (TSH, T3, T4, etc. What many people don’t understand and your doctor is not trained to explain, is that if the adrenal glands are not working properly, your thyroid cannot convert T3 to T4 and you show up as a thyroid case, when actually the problems is adrenal stress or exhaustion.  To test the adrenals a blood cortisol test can be ordered, or a much less expensive way is the Ross Health and Stress test. The THYROID & the Iodine Skin Test

There is a strong link between the thyroid and the adrenals. One is usually weak first and then weakens the other. Some people diagnosed with low thyroid do not respond to any thyroid medications because of weak adrenals. The health practitioner must the adrenals not just the thyroid for a complete BodyBest_TM analysis.

Classic symptoms of low thyroid include: cold hands and feet, constipation, dry skin, psoriasis, ring of the ears, depression, menstrual problems, weight gain, headaches, dry eyes, blurred vision, arthritis, hair loss, irritability, poor memory or concentration, low sex drive, constipation, heat and/or cold intolerance (adrenal fatigue can do this too), acne, carpal tunnel syndrome, panic attacks and other complaints. Further research shows thyroid hormone levels can also cause depression, anxiety and even more serious “mental” illness.

The standard testing procedure is a complete "thyroid blood test” which includes the following:

T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine), TSH, Reverse T3, and anti-thyroid antibodies.

TSH stands for the pituitary hormone, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. T4 is hopefully converted into T3, which is the most potent form of thyroid hormone—four times more active at the cellular level than T4. Sometimes T4 is, however, converted into Reverse T3, instead of T3. This can lead to fatigue and many other complaints. Likewise the body may be making antibodies to thyroid hormones. The problem with all these blood tests is that they do tell you what is really happening inside the nucleus of your cells, especially inside the liver, kidneys and brain. You must continue to find solutions to your health problem.

Understand, one of the key problems is 80% of T3 (4 times more potent than T4) is made, not in the thyroid gland, but in other cells of the body, and is therefore not detectable with standard blood tests. Unfortunately this means that current blood testing for “thyroid or thyroid metabolism” is approximately 80% unreliable! It also means that most people with thyroid hormone metabolism deficiency may not be getting the treatment they deserve to have in order to have a happy healthy life.

Note mercury or fluoride can replace the iodine in thyroid hormone. I recommend that you do not use fluoride toothpaste, drink fluoridated water or receive fluoride dental treatments if you have thyroid problems.

I have found that stomach problems like a hiatal hernia a vagus nerve disorder can cause thyroid problems as well, which are corrected with the BodyBest_TM technique.

Certain foods have a strong anti-thyroid effect in susceptible people. These foods include soy, cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts, mustard greens, turnips, kale, spinach, peaches and pears, probably wheat, and any allergy in theory.

Sulfa drugs and antihistamines can worsen any Thyroid condition.

Various nutrients are needed for proper thyroid functioning. This includes iodine, the amino acid tyrosine (which is now also available in the active, coenzyme form, N-acetyl-L-tyrosine), potassium, selenium, zinc, manganese, B-complex, essential fatty acids, and Vitamin A.

The Iodine Skin Test

A simple inexpensive way to test your own body’s desire for iodine is you can perform the iodine skin test. Coat your abdomen with a one-inch circle of iodine. You can use Lugol’s, a special iodine solution, which  can be purchased at the Life Center for $20. If the iodine is absorbed in less than 24 hours, it can be assumed your body likes it and is low in iodine. You can then take 5 drops in water three times a day until your skin iodine skin test is normal.

NOTE: If you have or suspect you have an iodine allergy, Do NOT do this test and do not take Lugol's Solution.

Everyone knows that if you are anemic, you probably need more iron. Also if your thyroid needs iodine to make the thyroid hormone, thyroxin.

Some people report feeling vastly better after taking the iodine regularly. You can continue to take the Lugol's everyday until the Iodine spot does not disappear for 24 hours.

Adrenal Stress Test

Everyone with low energy, over weight, a Thyroid condition or other health problems should do the Iodine Skin Test and Adrenal Stress test.
